District Simplified Grants:

In addition to its normal distribution of proceeds, each year Punxsutawney Rotary seeks out one larger project in the area to contribute money and manpower via a combination of private/public cooperative effort.  This includes financial resources in the form of a “District Simplified Grant” that comes from Rotary District 7280 back to the Punxsutawney area upon application and approval of the project.  Past benefactors for this program include the Punxsutawney Community Center, Punxsutawney Library, George C. Brown Community Pool, Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center and the Punxsutawney Fire Department.

Only one project per year is funded in this manner.

In 2014 & 2015 a new project will fund a “Community Garden” to allow people without a location to grow their own garden a small plot for that purpose.

Non-profit groups looking to Rotary for this type of funding should speak to a Rotarian for additional details.
